US Off-Track supplies funding for animal victims of Katrina
Several news reporters continue to relay the message that all efforts are focused on rescuing the human victims of Hurricane Katrina, but the animal population affected may have to wait a little longer for help. The animals might not have to wait as long as expected with new donations being collected specifically for their welfare from organizations like US-Off Track.
We are all animal lovers, said USOT General Manager Deb Trickel. All of us at work saw the incredible outreach for the humans affected by Katrina and wanted to make sure there was funding for abandoned and stranded animals too.
A total of $10,000 was donated to Noah's Wish that was endorsed by Cynthia Branigan President of Make Peace with Animals and to the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association by US-Off Track.
Trickel also added that it was only natural for the staff to be concerned for the animals since their line of work evolves around animal athletes daily.
US Off-Track is based in Oregon and accepts pari-mutuel wagers on the nation 's premiere Thoroughbred, Harness and Greyhound racetracks via live telephone operators, internet, interactive voice recognition, touch telephone and wireless data applications.
